Brazil World Cup Legend Romario To Return To Pitch For His Club At 58 Some 15 Years After Retiring

Brazilian football legend Romario has been signed by his club America as a player at 58 years old, some 15 years after retiring.

Romario de Souza Faria, also known simply as Romario. Was the 1994 World Cup champion and is considered to be one of the greatest football players of all time.

He has now reportedly signed with America-RJ after playing his last professional match in November 2009.

The 58-year-old will reportedly donate his wages back to the second division club, of which he is the president.

Netizens have reacted to the news, with one saying. “Put him in Haaland’s place at City and see how many goals he scores.”

Another said. “The paradox of the guy who has never trained and will play professionally at almost 60.”

Romario began his professional career with Vasco de Gama in 1985. He began playing for Barcelona in 1993.

He was part of the Brazil squad for the 1994 World Cup and earned 70 caps and scored 55 goals.

His first match will be on 18th May against Petropolis in the Carioca Series A2.
