This is the moment two men on a scooter come within milliseconds of being crushed to death by an overturning lorry carrying several tonnes of sand.

CCTV footage of the accident Teng County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in South China shows the heavy goods vehicle attempting to turn into a petrol station when it flips onto its left side.

In the video dated 19th December, the semi-trailer lorry hauling sand is travelling at too fast a speed when it turns right into the filling station. It overturns just as the scooter carrying two men passes.

The heart-stopping images show the scooter passengers just managing to duck under the lorry trailer as it spills sand and crashes down on the road behind them, avoiding the pair by milliseconds.

The scooter still appears to lose control and possibly crash, but the men are understood to have “cheated death”, reports say.

Authorities say they are investigating the accident, which is not believed to have caused any serious injuries to any of those involved.

The lorry cabin had already been righted at the time of writing, but the overturned trailer and sand spill is yet to be dealt with.
