This is the crazy moment two men risked their lives by stepping out onto the steep-pitched roof of an eight-storey building to shovel off the snow.

A shocked eyewitness with a smartphone caught the daft pair on camera in the city of Novi Sad, the capital of northern Serbia’s Vojvodina province.

The footage shows the men standing in snow, close to the edge of the roof, and shovelling snow onto the street far below them.

Eyewitnesses said if either had slipped on the treacherous surface they would have surely fallen to their deaths.

Fortunately, neither man fell and they managed to complete their dangerous job without incident.

However, local media reports that passing pedestrians had to dodge the snow and ice which they shovelled from the roof of the building.

Netizen ‘Janko’ commented: “This is not normal”, while ‘Golub’ added: “This is crazy and brave. I think they must have 100 percent been attached to safety belts.”

But another online commentator, ‘Liman 3’, noted: “This roof is made from sheet metal, if the snow started to move they would have not been able to save themselves. Madness!”

Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia, is one of three contenders to be named the 2021 European Capital of Culture.
