However, the incident reportedly took place on the afternoon of Monday, 17th August 2020.

According to the police at the time, two vehicles collided head-on, with one of them falling down the slope on the side of the motorway and catching fire.

Footage shows a man with a fire extinguisher trying to put out the flames while the man filming is heard desperately trying to encourage the woman trapped inside to exit through the window.

The accident left two people dead and one woman injured, according to local news outlet Mais Goias.

The injured woman was reportedly helped to safety by off-duty police sergeant Cloves Barbosa de Lima, who was passing by at the time and saw the horrific scene.

She suffered burns mainly to her legs and her scalp and was taken to a hospital in the nearby city of Brasilia.

The driver of the vehicle seen in the footage reportedly burnt to death in the accident.

The other vehicle’s driver, reportedly an army soldier, was taken to hospital in the nearby administrative region of Brazlandia, but he succumbed to his injuries.

It is not clear if the woman seen in the video was the unnamed survivor and if the off-duty police officer is one of the two men.

However, the fact she is seen trying to escape through the passenger-side window suggests she was indeed the sole survivor of the crash.
