A Chinese woman has vowed to sue a hotel in Shanghai for 11p after a nude man barged into her room at night asking to “play”.
The claimant, known as ‘Huahua’ on the Chinese social network Weibo, said she hopes the lawsuit will bring about a formal apology as well as draw attention to the hotel’s lax security.
She also plans to sue the naked man, name not reported, who entered her hotel room during the night after she obtained CCTV footage of the alleged incident.
According to local media, the intrusion took place at a Ji hotel in the Chinese city of Shanghai on 31st July.
She is reportedly suing the Huazhu Hotels Group, which operates the Ji hotel, for CNY 1 (GBP 0.11).
The suspect was reportedly filmed roaming the corridors in his underwear at night and knocking on random doors for nearly an hour.
According to local media, hotel security noticed the man wandering the halls and took him back to his room where they kept guard for a period.
Security guards then left, apparently presuming the man had given up on his nocturnal walks around the hotel.
However, he later managed to enter the victim’s room, telling her she had left the door open.
The victim said the door had been faulty earlier in the day and it is possible it may have been unlocked at the time.
Despite being filmed in his underwear earlier in the night, the victim said he was completely naked by the time he entered her hotel room.
The young woman, who was awake at the time, said: “I shouted at him ‘are you crazy?’. He answered ‘why are you pretending? You door is open, didn’t you keep it open to allow others to come in to play with you?’”
‘Huahua’ managed to get the man out of her room before calling the police.
The suspect was arrested and held in custody for five days, according to reports.
The hotel group issued an apology on social media during the weekend and vowed to improve security measures across all its establishments in China.
The victim said she wants an official apology with the company’s seal included.
The police probe continues.
