This is the moment a woman ends up doing the splits after her husband’s motorcycle is hit by a pedicab and she is sent flying off the bike with her legs apart.

The eye-watering accident happened on the streets of Gucheng County in China’s central Hubei Province on 21st July.

Traffic camera footage shows the couple on the red Suzuki motorcycle and travelling on National Road 241 when the white pedicab suddenly cuts across it.

The husband tries to swerve out the way to avoid the pedicab, but the back of his bike is nonetheless struck by the vehicle, which sends the married pair tumbling from their seat.

The man manages to break his fall with his hands, but his wife riding pillion ends up landing in the split posture with one leg in front and the other behind.

Authorities say the woman, who was not named, was treated for an injured right leg at Gucheng Shihua Hospital.

She was not in any life-threatening condition.

The pedicab driver, surnamed Li, allegedly fled the scene of the crash and was arrested on hit-and-run charges later the same day.

Li has reportedly admitted to causing the crash, and investigations are ongoing, the police said.
