This footage shows a female scooter rider sent flying after crashing into a pensioner’s turning SUV before the vehicle runs over her legs and drags her several feet along the road.

Scooter rider Ms Luo, 21, suffered a broken leg and pelvis during the collision, with SUV driver Mr Hsieh, 71, said to have panicked and let go of his brake pedal, causing his vehicle to drive over the victim’s legs.

The crash happened on Lantian Road in Kaohsiung’s Nanzih District in south-western Taiwan on 25th November.

Ms Luo’s scooter-cam footage shows her travelling straight when Mr Hsieh’s white SUV makes a sudden right turn.

The scooter rider is unable to stop in time and, despite reportedly attempting to brake, slams into the passenger-side door of the car.

In the video, pieces of plastic from Ms Luo’s scooter are seen flying across the screen as she is launched from the scooter and ends up on the road.

But Mr Hsieh’s car does not stop and drives over the woman’s legs before dragging her body under its chassis for several feet.

Nanzih District police said Ms Luo was treated at a local hospital for a broken leg and pelvis, as well as abrasions on her head and limbs.

She was not in any life-threatening condition, the authorities said.

Mr Hsieh reportedly told investigators he attempted the right turn in order to park, and that he noticed the oncoming traffic but did not expect the scooter to crash into his vehicle.

It was not immediately clear whether he had indicated before the turn, with local police said to be inspecting available traffic camera footage as investigations continue.
