Woman Burns Her Father Alive For Past Abuse After Being Inspired By Horror Film

A woman has been arrested for burning alive her father who allegedly abused her in her teens after being inspired by a movie about a rape victim who took revenge against her attackers.

Claudia Campos Veiga is suspected of killing her father in the municipality of Embu-Guacu in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, and has now been found after a two-month search.

The suspect reportedly told the police that she was inspired to kill her father by the film ‘I Spit on Your Grave’ about a rape victim who carried out revenge killings on her attackers.

Campos Veiga said she was abused by her father during her teens and planned the murder after being inspired by the film, which she told her brother about days before the killing.

She was arrested in the municipality of Praia Grande in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo after changing locations several times.

The suspect’s ex-boyfriend said in a statement to the police that she had wanted to take revenge on her father for around 30 years.

Her father, named Omar, had spent the last five years living in a homeless rehab centre and was occasionally visited by his children there.

The suspect, who was living in the city of Manaus in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, travelled to Sao Paulo State to visit her father after allegedly hatching the plan.

On the day of his death, the suspect invited him to go on a hike and halfway along the trail, she reportedly tied him up and set him alight, apparently while still alive as no other signs of violence were found on his body.

Another member of the group grew suspicious when the pair failed to return with the rest of the hikers and went to look for them, eventually spotting the smoke and flames and discovering the charred body.

The police are investigating whether he was indeed tied and burned alive.

Campos Veiga then disappeared and remained missing until now, moving locations frequently to avoid capture, according to local media.
