This is the moment the front wheel on a woman’s 69,000-GBP Mercedes-Benz suddenly falls off just minutes after she collected the brand new car from a dealership.

CCTV footage from Shenzhen, a major port city in South China’s Guangdong Province, shows Ms Wang driving her pricey GLC 300 L onto the ramp of a shopping centre’s multi-storey car park.

In the video dated 16th July, the front-left wheel of the Mercedes-Benz SUV suddenly comes loose off its axle and rolls away, leaving Ms Wang’s car stuck on the ramp and unable to move.

She said: “I collected my car, then after that I drove straight to Yifang Center.

“The journey here from the dealership took less than 15 minutes.”

Ms Wang paid a reported 590,000 RMB (69,000 GBP) after tax for the top-of-the-range Mercedes-Benz, which was towed back by the dealership.

The vehicle – bought from the local Baoshijie Mercedes-Benz supplier – is still being inspected.

An unnamed staff member at the dealership said: “This really is the first time this has happened. If it had happened before, we’d have been in the news.

“We want to deal with this matter one step at a time. If it’s our fault, we’ll take responsibility for it.”

The dealership did not say whether any third-party evaluators would be used, or whether only official Mercedes-Benz engineers would be involved.

It is also unclear if Ms Wang has been given a replacement vehicle to drive in the interim.
