The mum – named as Ms Wang in local media in the municipality of Chongqing, on 18th November – was driven mad by constant squabbles between her seven-year-old son and his four-year-old sister.

So she puts them on a stool and tells them to keep hugging until one of them falls off – and the first to fall will be punished.

In the footage, the boy can be seen hugging his little sister so she wouldn’t slip.

And mum can be heard scolding the two siblings as they keep quiet and hold each other, seemingly having already gotten over their quarrel.

Ms Wang said the brother-sister duo often fight with each other, so she decided to punish them this way in hopes of them bonding one day.

She shared the video on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok – to recommend netizens her wise idea.

Most users commended Ms Wang on her smart method, but some suggested she should use a smaller stool to prevent accidental injuries in the future.
