This is the job posting made by a popular employment website seemingly offering Barcelona director of football Eric Abidal’s position after he was slammed by Lionel Messi.

The post was made on the site’s social media page shortly after Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, 32, fired back at some comments made by the club’s director of football Abidal, 40, in an interview with Spanish newspaper ‘Diario Sport’.

When speaking about the sacking of former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde, 55, Abidal said: “Many players were not happy or worked very hard” which was not well-received by the club’s captain.

Messi answered back at the comments in a social media post where said “everyone should be responsible with their tasks and take responsibility for their decisions” going on to say “when you mention players, you should give names.

“If not we are all being dirtied and it feeds into comments that are being said and are not true.”

Popular job website ‘InfoJobs’, which is based in Barcelona, made a job posting on their social media seemingly offering Abidal’s current position.

The post is for a job based in Barcelona with the title ‘Technical Secretary of Football Club’.

The post mentions “availability for immediate incorporation” in minimal requirements and asks for two years experience in a similar position or to be a former football player.

It also describes the job’s functions as “take care of the talent always working as a team” and to “speak well in public while taking care of the team” among others seemingly taking a dig at Abidal’s latest controversial comments.

The job post also mentions the position has a salary of “more than 300,000 EUR (254,640 GBP)” and local media report the post was made as a joke about Abidal’s job security.

However, Spanish newspaper ‘La Vanguardia’ report Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, 56, has cut a business trip to Brussels short to have a meeting with Abidal today (Wednesday) to “put out the fires he started”.

Valverde was sacked in January after some disappointing results which eventually saw the club lose the top position in La Liga to Real Madrid.

Barcelona are second in La Liga with 46 points – three behind Real Madrid. They are set to play Real Betis on Sunday 9th February.

InfoJobs is one of the largest job websites in Spain and works in Italy and Brazil as well.
