This is the viral moment Chilean protesters allow a motorist to pass through their blockade after he performed an impressive breakdance ‘caterpillar’ move to thrilled screams.
The incident was filmed in front of the Portal Temuco shopping centre in the city of Temuco in Cautin Province located in the southern Chilean region of Araucania, and was shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Seba Sommer’ where it is going viral with half a million views.
According to local media, the male driver in the footage was stopped by protesters who demanded “si no baila, no pasa” (“you shall not pass if you do not dance”).
In the video, the good-humoured motorist gets out of his car and strips off his jacket before performing the iconic ‘Saturday Night Fever’ dance move with the clothing item.
The stocky motorist then drops to the ground and performs a breakdance move known as ‘the caterpillar’ or ‘the worm’ to the thrilled screams of the impressed crowd.
After his funky display, the cheering protesters allow the driver to pass through the crowd.
Following weeks of protests about rising inequality in the South American country, netizens praised the video for showing a lighter side of the troubles.
Facebook user ‘Ana Elisa Paredes’ commented: “All peaceful, how beautiful.”
Netizen ‘Anyta Ruz’ wrote: “Chileans showing real joy despite all the bad things that have happened recently.”
