Wuhan Coronavirus Nurse Shaves Head To Save Time

This nurse in Wuhan has shaved off all her hair to save time when putting on protective suits to treat coronavirus patients.

Nurse Shan Xia, 30, works at the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University in the city in the central Chinese province of Hubei where the coronavirus first emerged.

The nurse, who is a mother of two, has shaved off her long hair in order to save time putting on and taking off protective suits as well as to help avoid cross-infection.

China’s National Health Commission announced yesterday (Monday) that teams of 959 medical workers from across the country are being sent to Wuhan to further contain and prevent the virus from spreading.

The teams are reportedly from Henan, Jilin, Liaoning, Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, and the municipalities of Tianjin and Chongqing.

Specialists have also been sent to other Chinese provinces to help prevent the spread of the disease, of which there have been 4,614 confirmed cases, with 106 deaths.

The National Health Commission added that they are also coordinating supplies urgently needed to control the outbreak in the country.

Wuhan which is the center is currently under lockdown to prevent the further spread of the deadly virus.
