Disgraced boxer Tom Schwarz, who broke his ex-fiancee’s jaw in three places when he punched her in the face, has announced his return to the boxing ring.
The 27-year-old German took to Instagram yesterday (Monday, 14th March) to announce to his 11,700 followers: “The Show Must Go On”.
He accompanied the English-language text with a photo purporting to reveal the time and place of his next fight, the Stadthalle Falkensee on 9th April.
The Stadthalle (Town Hall) Falkensee is a sports complex located in the town of Falkensee, which lies just to the west of the German capital, Berlin.
The fight is being promoted by Kuc Boxing, with Schwarz’ former promoter, SES Boxing, having dropped him after he badly injured his ex-fiancee, Tessa Schimschar.
The incident took place in a car park outside a restaurant in the village of Lostau, in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, in May 2020.
With a single blow to the chin, Schwarz broke his ex-fiancee’s jaw in three places, and the extent of her injuries can be seen in these shocking images.
Despite reportedly facing 10 years in prison over the act of violence, Schwarz, who hails from Halle (Saale), escaped in the end with just an EUR-2,500 (GBP-2,110) fine.
Schwarz’ last professional fight came on 28th September 2019, when he beat fellow countryman Ilja Mezencev by decision.
He has racked up 26 wins and just one loss since he turned professional in 2013, with his sole loss coming to British two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Fury beat Schwarz by knockout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Paradise, Nevada, on 15th Jun 2019.
Schwarz has held the IBF International heavyweight title since 2019 and he previously held the WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title from 2017 to 2019.
Though most of the comments on his post announcing his comeback were positive, netizen Matheo Mosbach wrote: “I’m a big boxing fan, but I don’t want to see such cowardly women punchers in the ring again.”
