During the press conference, Tuchel was asked if he wanted Cavani to remain in the squad as rumours of a possible exit from the club surround the striker.

Tuchel assured: “Do I want him to leave? Of course I do not want him to leave. It is clearly better to have him with us to reach our objectives this season.”

He went on to explain Cavani was not in the squad for the match against Monaco because he “is injured. I was with him and the doctor after the last training session.

Despite expressing his desire to keep the striker at PSG Tuchel said: “There could be people coming in or going out of the squad. Everything is possible in football, that is all I can say.”

Cavani is under contract with PSG until 30th June of this year with clubs like Manchester United and Atletico Madrid reportedly making a push in signing the star as well as interst from Chelsea and Tottenham.

PSG are set to play a Ligue 1 match against Lille on Sunday 26th January. They sit comfortably top of the league with 49 points.
