This is the touching moment a four-year-old girl kisses a cross and asks God to “let her go home” after getting the all-clear from a malignant brain tumour.

Helena Gavran is waiting to fly home to Serbia from the Gustave Roussy Institute of Oncology in Paris after successfully completing her chemotherapy treatment and beating the disease.

The four-year-old was a cheerful and healthy red-haired girl but then began suffering from regular vomiting, tiredness and became irritable.

Local media report her parents thought the changes had been caused by Helena’s jealousy after she got a little sister, but in August 2019 she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and then a brain tumour.

Hydrocephalus is a condition in which an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid takes place in the brain.

The youngster underwent emergency surgery and the tumour was removed. However, doctors found the tumour had been malignant and in October 2019 Helena flew to Paris for treatment at the specialist institute.

Reports state 546,000 EUR (475,074 GBP) was raised in donations for the girl’s treatment.

She is now waiting for her blood count to increase so she can fly back to Serbia and in the video she can be seen kissing a wooden cross and saying “God help us all.”

She then picks up an icon of Saint Nicholas in her hands, saying “God help us and let us all go home.”

Helena’s aunt Jelena Isakov told local media: “She ended up being treated. She will come home when she is strong and her blood count is good.”
