This footage shows three schoolboys taking part in a dangerous new online challenge that involves the middle lad plunging backwards and cracking his head on the floor.

The footage was filmed at the Santo Tomas de Aquino School in the northern Venezuelan capital Caracas as the new online challenge reportedly grips students across Latin America.

In the footage, three schoolboys are seen facing the camera as a filming pal counts down from three.

The two teens on either side jump simultaneously as the middle boy jumps after a short delay.

Meanwhile, while the middle contestant is still in the air, the flanking pair use their feet to sweep the youngster’s feet away, making him crash to the ground so hard that he appears to whack his head on the concrete.

A Santo Tomas de Aquino spokesperson confirmed that the video was filmed on the school premises and said they are looking into the matter.

According to local media, the online challenge is currently sweeping across Latin America and parents are concerned that it could result in serious head injuries.

One Facebook group set up in response to the online challenge posted: “Alert your children, grandkids and nieces and nephews of the new trending challenge. It can cause head injuries and severely damage the brain, be very careful.”

Reports did not mention if the student in the video required hospital treatment after the fall.
