The Joker has been spotted at a tube station in Uzbekistan where the supervillain was stopped by a team of concerned cops.

The incident took place in the eastern Uzbekistani capital Tashkent and transport official Oleg Bichenov confirmed that the police let the Joker impersonator go without further incident.

A snap of the sheepish-looking Joker talking with cops was shared on social media by a female passenger who then took a selfie with the impersonator in the background.

In the second photo, one of the cops appears to be taking a selfie with the Joker impersonator.

According to local media, a passenger appeared on the underground with dyed green hair, clown makeup and a red suit associated with Joaquin Phoenix’s award-winning performance of the supervillain.

After the character was hailed as an ‘anti-hero’ in Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker’ from 2019, concerned cops approached the man to ask whether they could help with anything in case some kind of public activity was taking place.

Bichenov explained: “At this time of year, there are many events being held, including on the underground.

“There is a procedure for handling such incidents and organisers should inform metro staff about upcoming events so they can apply the necessary security measures.”

He added: “The man’s documents were not checked. When he told us he was just a passenger, we let him go.

The man reportedly said he was going to participate in an activity but that it was not going to take place in the underground. It is unclear why exactly he was dressed as The Joker.
