Texas Police Probe As Substitute Teacher Left With Head Gash Amid Chair Fight With Student

This is the moment a substitute teacher hurls two chairs at a student after being left with a head gash when the teen apparently attacked him with a chair first.

The incident was filmed at DeSoto West Middle School in the city of DeSoto in Dallas County in the US state of Texas on 9th March.

According to local reports, the teacher, name not disclosed, needed medical attention after being hit by a chair hurled by the middle school student and an ambulance was called to the scene.

In the heat of the moment, the substitute teacher reacted by reportedly throwing two chairs at the troublesome student.

School district officials have confirmed that the student attacked the stand-in teacher first, prompting the chaotic scenes in the footage.

The video shows the teach sitting down to wipe the blood from his face as students laugh and scream in the background.

Craig Miller, school safety consultant and former head of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), said: “The student will face serious assault charges based upon the angle that I saw in the video.

“It could very well be an aggravated assault, which also then could be enhanced, possibly because it happened to an educator in a school environment.”

The police said on 10th March: “The Desoto Police Department has been made aware of several videos circulating social media involving a teacher and several students from DeSoto West.

“We would like to make our citizens aware that all sides of the incident are currently under investigation.

“In response to the videos, tomorrow there will be a larger police presence at Desoto West to prevent any further incidents. The safety and security of the children and staff members is a top priority.”
