A Texas man has reportedly killed his 11-year-old daughter during an ill-fated hunting trip accident.

Daisy Grace Lynn George, from the city of Hallsville in the US state of Texas, was fatally shot near the Texas-Louisiana border on Saturday, 27th November.

The police said they received multiple calls about the shooting just after 5pm.

During further conversations with the caller, the police determined that he shot his 11-year-old daughter with a high-powered rifle during the hunting trip near Hallsville, according to local reports.

Medics on the scene requested the victim to be flown to hospital by helicopter, but all air vehicles were grounded due to the harsh weather conditions.

As a result, the girl was taken to a hospital in the city of Longview by an emergency vehicle where she passed away, according to the sheriff’s office.

Police spokesperson Brandon Fletcher said: “Anytime a young person loses their life, it’s tragic for all involved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends during this difficult time.”

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Harrison County Sheriff’s Office will carry out a joint investigation into the incident.

Deborah George launched a fundraiser on the GoFundMe platform to help pay for the victim’s funeral costs. The campaign has currently raised USD 5,775 of its USD-10,000 goal.

Deborah wrote: “On November 27, God received an angel whose time was cut very short. Through a hunting accident we lost a very special little girl. She was always a joker trying to lift everyone’s spirits. She loved to draw her heart out.

“Daisy loved to be surrounded by the outdoors. Always down for an adventure big or small. Please help us lay this little girl down to rest. Thank you so much for any help.”
