TERMINUS: Bus Conductor Films Death Race With Coach

This is the horrifying moment when a bus conductor films his own death in a high-speed smash during a race with a coach in Zimbabwe.

The collision took place at kilometre 160 of the Harare-Nyamapanda Road in Bondamakara, Mtoko, on 17th January.

Seven passengers were seriously injured in the crash, police revealed in a statement.

The conductor was filming his driver as he played out a deadly duel with a coach driver he thought was going too slowly.

The footage shows how the bus driver honks his horn angrily as the slower-moving coach hogs the middle of the road,

Several of the 23 bus passengers can be heard begging the driver to slow down.

Instead, he tailgates the coach until it suddenly moves to the right-hand side of the road.

But the bus driver is so close he cannot see what forced the coach to pull over – and crashes head-on into the rear of a slow-moving tipper truck.

The windscreen shatters and shards of glass can be seen flying into the bus as the grim footage ends.

A snap taken after the accident shows how the bus’s front was completely destroyed in the smash.

The conductor died instantly, while seven passengers were seriously injured, reported Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

ZRP said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “It is clear that the bus drivers were racing and blocking each other along the road.

“They were openly putting the lives of passengers in danger.”

It added: “Operators have a vicarious responsibility to control their drivers and ensure that drivers are not dragged into dangerous and reckless highway races with other buses for passengers.”
