A 19-year-old driver who survived a terrifying crash in a ditch died after she was hit just minutes later in a freak accident when a second car spun off the road straight into her.

Victim Natalia Jeznach had just pulled herself from the wreckage of her Mazda hatchback when she was hit by a Toyota which skidded off the tarmac at the same spot.

The horrified 26-year-old Toyota driver tried to give Natalia first aid but she died later in hospital, say police.

Natalia had just had time to call the emergency services after her crash between Zabraniec and Krubki-Gorki, eastern Poland, when she was hit at around 5.40am on Saturday, 25th November.

Warsaw Police Headquarters spokesperson Malgorzata Wersocka said: “Initial police findings show that the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over.

“When the woman got out of the vehicle, she was hit by a moving Toyota vehicle.

“The driver of the Toyota helped her until the ambulance arrived. He was sober. The man provided the young woman with first aid.”

Natalia had just begun her studies at the elite War Studies University, Poland’s version of Sandhurst or West Point.

The National Security Department of the university said in a Facebook statement on 26th November: “With deepest regret and sadness we convey the news of the death of Natalia Jeznach, our student, friend, and athlete.

“As a result of a combination of dramatic circumstances the road accident left Natalia in a serious condition, and it ended in the most tragic way.

“Natalia Jeznach was a first-year student of National Security and Public Defense undergraduate studies.”

The victim’s father Krzysiek Jeznach wrote on Facebook: “My beloved daughter Natalia Jeznach passed away.”

Police are investigating the crash.
