This footage shows a man sitting in a large pool of his own blood at a tube station in China after his tumour surgery wounds suddenly ruptured.

The video was filmed by a commuter at Xiaobei Station, which is on Line 5 of the Guangzhou Metro in China’s southern Guangdong Province.

The short video widely shared on social media was first reported as an ‘attack’, but Guangzhou Metro contradicted the claim in an online statement.

According to the public transport provider, the male passenger in his 60s suddenly collapsed while stepping onto the train station platform at roughly 10:10am local time on 20th May.

He fell unconscious and ended up sitting in the pool of his own blood after sutures on his neck had ruptured.

The male passenger had previously had surgery to remove a tumour in his neck, and he is understood to have fainted from heavy blood loss as a result of the wound splitting open without warning.

The statement said the pensioner was accompanied by family members and was later taken to a hospital by ambulance.

His current condition, however, has not been reported.
