This is the moment a school teacher wallops lined-up students in the face for reportedly giggling in class before shouting at the youngsters to return to their seats.

According to local media, the incident took place at the Muhammadiyah 2 Vocational School in the south-western Indonesian province of East Java when the lecturer, identified as A.S., was giving a talk on digital marketing.

Reports said that several students started laughing when he started his talk and he ordered them to come to the front of the class and line up in single file in front of him.

In front of the rest of the class, A.S. then slapped each student hard around the face before shouting at them to return to their seats.

The incident was filmed by a classmate and the parents of nine of the 10 slapped teens reportedly filed a complaint the same day.

Local media said the lecturer was arrested the next day and he told the police that he lost control and had never done anything like that before.

Meanwhile, some of the students complained that they suffered minor injuries such as a bloodied lip and facial bruising.

According to local media, A.S. has been charged with violating the Child Protection Law and could face up to three and a half years in prison if found guilty.
