Pic shows: German car driver who blindly followed the orders of his sat nav without questioning where he was going ended up stuck in the snow. By Koen Berghuis A driver blindly following his sat nav’s instructions ended up stuck on a ski slope. The German motorist made the blunder in Krimml, a town in the Pinzgau region of Austria. He was on his way to his hotel in the higher part of the town, but his satnav guided him over an alpine walking path instead of roads. Krimml’s fire and rescue service got an unusual phone call at around 9.30pm that a car was stranded in the snow near a cable car station on the ski slopes. Fire brigade commander Robert Mair said it took 13 firefighters to pull the stranded car from the snow with a cable winch. The operation took about an hour and a half. Mr Mair added: "He went on despite a sign banning vehicles." Local media reported that the unnamed German driver was not the first to make that type of mistake. Just over a month ago, a 72-year-old German tourist in Zell am See was misled by his sat nav into driving onto a steep mountain slope. It took a speciality ski patrol to bring the driver and his three passengers back into the valley. The local fire brigade of Zell am See later managed to recover the car. (ends)
