This 79-year-old lingerie model has become an Instagram star after creating her own sexy lingerie collection and modelling it herself.

Brazilian model Helena Schargel has become an online hit with her work as a model and designer ahead of her 80th birthday on 23rd December.

Shargel introduces herself to her more than 19,000 Instagram followers as “an 80-year-old woman who challenges other women to come out of invisibility”.

The grandmother has already launched several underwear collections with Brazilian lingerie brand Rocco and an activewear line with the company Alto Giro.

Her Instagram clips show the 80-year-old sexy grandma walking in lingerie or striking a seductive pose surrounded by younger models.

The Brazilian businesswoman said in a TED talk in Sao Paulo that she wanted to design beautiful and comfortable underwear that make women feel alive.

Reports state Schargel retired at the age of 78 after working 50 years as a designer in a textile company in her country.

After going to different therapies, several courses and pilates classes she decided she needed a project to give meaning to her life.

According to local media, the elderly model and designer demanded to be the model for her own collections and asked to choose the pictures herself, saying they cannot be touched by editing software.

Reports state that she has already visited a factory where her garments are made and workers received her with applause.

Shargel told local media: “They thought if I could do it they could do it too. You can have the best life at any age.”
