This is the moment the Spanish Army uses a snow cannon to cover the streets of a Spanish town with disinfectant as they work to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The snow cannon was donated to the Military Emergency Unit (UME) by an unnamed company and has been used to disinfect the streets of the town of Castillo de Bayuela, in the central Spanish province of Toledo, near the capital Madrid.
Official sources report the cannon was placed on a UME lorry and was first used to disinfect the IFEMA conference centre in Madrid when it was converted into a temporary hospital for this weekend.
In the video, the cannon can be seen spraying the streets of the town with disinfectant from the back of the moving lorry.
The disinfectant reportedly uses nebulisation to disinfect the streets. Reports state 1,162 army officers are working to disinfectant Spanish streets, with 330 vehicles being employed in total.
There have been 33,089 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Spain, with 4,517 in the past 24 hours and 2,182 total deaths.
The Spanish authorities have extended the country’s lockdown by a further two weeks to help stop the spread of the virus.
