Shock Moment Escaped Gas That Looks Like Mist Suddenly Erupts Into Flames

This is the shopping moment escaped gas blankets the ground before before suddenly igniting, creating a carpet of flame that swiftly engulfs the entire street.

The incident happened in the Pyeongchang region, in Gangwon Province in South Korea, in the early hours of 2nd January.

The dashcam footage shows the neighbourhood with only a car parked on the street and what appears to be fog lying on the ground when suddenly the white cloud erupts into flame.

As the huge fireball engulfs the entire street, some of the gas also burns blue and then sparks are seen falling to the ground.

The footage then shows the firefighters working at the scene and putting out the fire.

According to local media, the incident happened due to a gas leak at a liquefied petroleum gas station.

The Gangwon Fire Department told local media that five people had been injured in the blast.

Two of them suffered severe burns but are in stable condition while the other three suffered minor injuries, according to local media.

In the incident, 14 buildings and several cars were damaged and about 25 residents from nearby areas have been evacuated.

The 117 firefighters managed to put out the fire in three hours, according to reports.

The National Forensic Service, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, police, and fire authorities who conducted a joint investigation, told local media that the explosion had left a 300-metre (984-foot)-wide burn mark.
