Her husband Abraham Garcia uploaded photos of her finger and the bullet on Facebook where the post went viral and was shared by 127,000 netizens.

He said the bullet was removed from his wife’s finger by doctors, but added that she will require further surgery as her bone was badly damaged.

According to Abraham, there were multiple shootings in the colony of Nuevo Mexico in the municipality of Irapuato in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato on New Year’s Eve and the incident happened when the couple were ushering their children inside the house.

He said: “My wife was taking the eldest one inside when she felt something ‘sting’ her. We looked at her finger and it was crimson red, I thought her finger had exploded.”

Abraham said that they have reported the incident to the local authorities, but no one has come to speak to them about it yet.

He admitted that it will be difficult to find the alleged shooter, and called on the authorities to educate citizens on the dangers of shooting guns in the air during celebrations to avoid future accidents and possible tragedies.
