Seven Dead As Bus Is Destroyed In Crash With Lorry

These are the images of a bus which had its front half completely destroyed after it rammed into a lorry on a motorway killing seven.

The incident occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway close to the Manipuri district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Local media report the bus was travelling from the Indian capital Delhi to the city of Benaras when the driver lost control.

The bus is then said to have rammed into the back of a lorry and images show how the front half of the passenger vehicle was destroyed in the collision.

Reports state at least seven people are believed to have died and another 34 injured in the crash.

Local police superintendent Ajay Shankar Rai said: “Six persons died on the spot and one succumbed to injuries during treatment.”

The deceased have been identified as Mohan Lal Gupta, 57, Shishir Shukla, 36, Shashank Yadav, 28, Ashish, 28, Tinku Singh, 22, Shivam Singh, 22, and Vidushi Shukla, 7.

The injured reportedly included a Spanish national named as Jose Migiale, 32, and his wife, who has not been named.

Those injured have been taken to the PGI Hospital in the village of Saifai and reports state the number of victims is expected to increase.

Emergency services reportedly had to cut those injured from the wreck and an investigation has been launched.

Earlier this month two people were killed when a van overturned on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and caught fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
