This is the moment a separated dad abandons one of his two sons in a police station for the third time that week in an attempt to make their mother come back and take responsibility for her children.
The incident was filmed in the city of Fuzhou in the south-eastern Chinese province of Fujian and it was the third time that the father, identified as Mr. Wang, had left one of his two sons at the police station in a week.
According to reports, Wang had ‘abandoned’ his 12-year-old son at the station twice before while the video shows him leaving his four-year-old boy behind on the latest occasion.
Police spokesman Mr. Liang told local media: “My colleague thought he was simply a nice person who brought a lost child to the station, but when he asked Wang for his personal details, he hesitated and left in a hurry.”
After checking the CCTV footage, the officers discovered that Wang was the same person who dumped a 12-year-old boy at the station twice during the same week.
Reports said that every time the police called Wang about one of his sons being left in the station, he insisted that his wife must pick them up.
On the first two occasions, nobody came and the boys’ aunt had to collect them, according to local media.
The unnamed aunt said: “My sister and her husband are getting divorced. He is trying to make my sister show up by abandoning the children.”
On the third occasion when the four-year-old was left behind and Wang’s wife and in-laws refused to pick him up, the police sent the boy to the Fuzhou Children Welfare Institution.
Wang has since been arrested for abandonment. However, he maintains that he did not dump his two sons and only told them to “go find their mother”.
The investigation continues.
