This is the shocking moment a 12-year-old schoolgirl is sent flying after being hit by a car while crossing a street with her friends.

Despite shocking injuries, she has now been allowed to go home after a three-week stay in hospital.

The footage, reportedly CCTV images from a local business at around 5pm, shows the young girl waiting with friends for a red car to pass by before they cross the road.

The young girl and her friends then proceed to cross the street, but she suddenly decides to run across faster than her friends and is hit by a grey car coming from the other direction at speed.

The grey vehicle, make and model unknown, slams on the brakes and comes to a stop further down the street. Locals and her friends can then be seen running down the street after her to render assistance as the footage ends.
