Security Guard Who Shot Wife Dead Before Turning Gun On Self Dies After Being Admitted To Hospital

A security guard who shot his wife dead before turning the gun on himself has passed away in hospital.

The husband allegedly killed his wife, both seen here in this smiling photo, with a gun before turning the firearm on himself in the incident that took place in Karacabey, which is a town in the province of Bursa in the region of Marmara in north-western Turkey, on Friday, 14th January.

The husband had been taken to intensive care in a vegetative state, and he has since passed away yesterday (Monday, 17th January), three days after the incident.

Orcay Korku, 35, who worked as a security guard at a private bank, and his wife Gozde Korku, 31, started arguing on the day of the incident for reasons unknown.

The man then shot his wife with a single shot from his firearm before turning the gun on himself.

Neighbours went to his apartment after hearing the sound of gunfire and alerted the police and emergency services, with police vehicles and an ambulance being dispatched to the scene.

Paramedics were only able to pronounce Gozde Korku dead at the scene, and Orcay Korku, who was seriously injured, was first transferred to Karacabey State Hospital and then to Bursa City Hospital.

Medics found him to be in a vegetative state, and he was kept in intensive care.

Local media reported that both Orcay and Gozde had previously been married to other people and both had children from their first marriages.

Orcay Korku’s family had requested that his organs be donated, but this was reportedly not possible, as they were in a poor state. He is set to be buried in Karacabey tomorrow (Wednesday, 18th January).
