Search Team Finds Boy, 2, In Woodland Over 30 Hours Since He Vanished From His Home

This picture shows the moment a toddler who had been missing for over 30 hours is reunited with his elated dad after being found in an area of woodland.

Two-year-old Noah disappeared from his home in the civil parish of Proenca-a-Velha in the Portuguese municipality of Idanha-a-Nova in the early morning of Wednesday, 16th June.

According to the youngster’s family, he often left home of his own accord to find his father, who hails from Belgium, who gets up early to work on land nearby.

Noah’s mother and older sister were sleeping when he sneaked out of his family home before vanishing without a trace.

When Noah’s mother woke up and noticed her son and pet dog were missing, she contacted the authorities.

A team of over 100 people comprised of both volunteers and police officers then undertook a search mission to track down the youngster with the help of sniffer dogs and drones.

Nerves ran high when a boy’s t-shirt and the family dog were found on Wednesday afternoon.

However, the team’s efforts paid off, with Noah finally being found as he walked along a dirt track in the early evening of Thursday 17th June.

The spot where he was found lies around four kilometres (2.5 mi) from his home as the crow flies. However, the authorities believe he may have wandered for around 10 kilometres (6.2 mi).

He was naked, dehydrated and had cuts and scratches on his legs and feet, but he was otherwise well when he was finally located over 30 hours since his disappearance.

He was taken to hospital, where he spent the night as a precautionary measure, and he will now be quizzed by the authorities on his version of events.

His relatives and locals are reported to be very relieved.
