This is the moment a man is stuck between the tracks at a metro station as a train approaches and the driver stops just in time as onlookers scream.
The startling scene was recorded by an onlooker at the Sao Joaquim metro station int he city of Sao Paulo in the southeastern Brazilian state of the same name after 37-year-old Eliseu fell onto the tracks.
In the video, the passenger can be seen lying motionless between the tracks as an onlooker can be heard screaming.
A train then comes into the platform and the driver manages to pull to a halt with just the nose of the cabin over the fallen passenger.
Local media report Eliseu was helped from the tracks by station staff and taken to the Vergueiro Emergency Ward with a cut to his head. The injury was said to be minor and he has since been discharged.
The victim had reportedly been on the platform for around an hour when he fell onto the tracks. He has now thanked Amanda, the driver of the train for stopping the locomotive in time.
He described the incident as a “miracle” while Amanda told him: “It’s so good you are okay and everything turned out fine.”
Eliseu told reporters he did not know how he ended up on the tracks and witnesses report he seemingly fainted.
