Celebrity chef Salt Bae is facing bankruptcy according to speculation in his Turkish homeland after footage emerged of his New York eaterie apparently completely empty.

The video – shot by TikToker Simon Metin – is said to show the restaurant at 6pm on a Friday, on what should be one of the busiest nights of the week,

As Metin’s camera pans around the restaurant, it becomes apparent that the place looks completely empty.

Salt Bae – real name Nusret Gokcet – has become a world dining star after his method of seasoning steak made him a social media sensation.

But the video has led to speculation in his homeland about just how well his international empire is doing.

The footage has made waves in Turkish media, prompting newspapers to speculate that he might be going bankrupt.

One newspaper carried the headline, “Is Nusret going bankrupt?”

While another went with, “Is the restaurant of socialite butcher Nusret going bankrupt?”

The video footage apparently shows Metin popping by the chef’s steak restaurant in New York.

He jokingly captions images apparently showing the empty Nusr-Et Steakhouse on 60 W 53rd St: “6pm on a Friday. It’s so busy.”

Metin sits down to look through the notoriously overpriced menu captioning the moment his eyes appear to pop out of his head with “Are my eyes deceiving me?”

Cringing and captioning the moment with “Are these cows fed gold?”, he decides instead to leave and says: “I can buy a car with this money, I’m out of here.”

He added: “Some people really do have more money than sense”.

He captioned his video: “My brief review of Nusr-et at their NYC location. Why Saltbae? Why?” (sic)

Netizens widely praised Metin for his video, with ‘ravneetmultani887’ saying: “Like for actually walking out”.

While ‘Baz’ said: “The most realistic food review of salt bae iv seen, glad you didn’t miss your morgatge payment for the meal.” (sic)

And ‘PEG1448’ quipped: “Salt Bye”.
