A man suspected of robbing a crab restaurant in Florida who pooped on the floor has been arrested after he was seen swimming naked a few days later in a local river.

The suspect has been named by police as Nathan David Long, 43, and he was reportedly arrested after being questioned about the naked swimming in Fort Myers, a city in Lee County, in Florida, in the US, last Thursday.

Police who caught him jumping into the river naked had then linked him to the earlier incident a few days when he allegedly broke into Joe’s Crab Shack.

Long, who also allegedly defecated on the restaurant floor, admitted to the break in, police said.

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Fort Myers Police Department dated Thursday, 26th January, saying: “The Pooping Perpetrator has been identified.

“On January 24th at approximately 3pm, Detective Southwick was working as a Marine Unit when he was dispatched near West First Street, in reference to a naked male that jumped into the Caloosahatchee River.”

The cops added: “Once on scene, the nude male was observed on a derelict vessel nearby.

“Detective Southwick recognized the male from the surveillance footage of the burglary at Joe’s Crab Shack.”

The police said that the “pooping perpetrator” was safely apprehended and handed over to medics. They said: “Detective Southwick along with Officer Kelly Witt were able to get the Pooping Perpetrator safely aboard the FMPD Marine Boat and transported him to awaiting medics.”

They also said that when Long was questioned, he “admitted to police that he was indeed the culprit of the incident in which he was sought”.

They added: “Long has since been booked into the Lee County Jail.”
