A Russian man has been forced to publicly apologise to his region’s leader and citizens for his “unacceptable” crying at his sister’s wedding.

The apology was made after a video of the unnamed citizen shedding a tear at his sister’s wedding in the south-western Russian republic of Chechen was uploaded to social media.

Reports said that public opinion forced the wedding attendee to apologise to the Chechen head Ramzan Kadyrov.

A Chechen official explained: “Videos of men crying at weddings on the day of their sisters and daughters’ matrimony are totally unacceptable to Chechen society.

“There are many unwritten rules of conduct for weddings which allows us to keep out tradition and culture.

“Those who go against these customs should be held accountable for their actions.”

According to local media, the young man was forced to publicly apologise to Chechen head Ramzan Kadyrov and his fellow citizens under pressure from public opinion.

Netizen ‘Magomed19’ commented: “If a man wants to laugh or cry, why should anyone else care about his feelings?”

‘Marem1808’ said: “Chechnya, are you slowly losing your mind? So what if he cried.”

‘Katya Sergeeva’ wrote: “This is too much, men are not robots, it is normal to show feelings. Isn’t it sometimes good to cry? I am very surprised by this reaction.”
