Russia Experts In PPE Disinfect Serbia Hospitals

This is the moment Russian experts in protective gear disinfect the inside and outside of a hospital to help Serbia in their fight against the spread of COVID-19.

The cleanup was filmed at a military hospital in the city of Nis in the south-eastern Serbian district of Nisava on 12th April, and the footage was shared on social media by the Russian Ministry of Defence.

In the footage, workers in protective gear are seen disinfecting the beds, floors and walls of the hospital, both inside and out.

According to the Serbian authorities, the Nis Military Hospital is accepting non-COVID-19 patients to help take the load off other hospitals currently overwhelmed by the pandemic.

The Serbian Minister of Defence, Alexandar Vulin, 47, personally visited the facility before it was ready to administer patients and he thanked the Russian authorities for their assistance.

He said: “I want to thank the representatives of the Russian Armed Forces and General Chernyshov personally for all their great work.”

According to local media, Russian experts spent the last week disinfecting13 different facilities in Nis and the Serbian capital Belgrade.

As well as sending teams of radiation, chemical and biological experts, Russia also provided medical and nursing personnel to examine patients in the cities of Cuprija and Pancevo.

In total, Russia helped to disinfect 35 medical centres, 65 buildings and 25 paved roads with a surface area of around 70,000 square metres (753,474 square feet).

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, there have been 3,630 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Serbia with 80 related deaths.
