The bull that was filmed clattering down a waterslide before enjoying a dip in a country club swimming pool has been saved from slaughter and named ‘Toboggan’ by its owner, who now plans to raise it as a pet.

The waterslide incident was filmed at the Indaia Clube de Campo country club in the municipality of Nova Granada in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo on 6th November when temperatures were high.

In the footage, the bull is seen standing at the top of the waterslide before apparently losing its footing and clattering down to the bottom.

The second clip shows workers pulling the calf into the pool before leading it to the edge of the water and dragging it out.

According to the news site Metropoles, the young bull first enjoyed a dip in the pool before climbing the concrete steps to the top of the waterslide.

The calf reportedly strayed into the club from a neighbouring farm.

Six workers tied a rope around the bovine and managed to pull it into the pool where it was then led away.

Country club president Joao Luiz Andrade Zevole said: “The animal was a little hot and wanted to swim and use the waterslide, that’s all!

“The animal did not die, but it is cleaner now!”

After the footage went viral on social media, the calf’s owner Carlos Miguel Serante told the news site G1 that he had planned to slaughter the bull, but has since decided to name it ‘Toboga’ (‘Toboggan’) and raise it as a pet.

Serante, who keeps livestock on his farm next to the country club, added: “He was in the field and from the field, he escaped to the club’s boundary. I went to look for him, but he entered the grounds, skirted a fence, and got in the pool.

“Someone came to tell me that he had climbed on top of the waterslide. I did not believe it.

“We went after him, took him away, and the man showed me the video of him in the pool.”
