This is the moment rescuers use a shovel and a wooden stick to push a teenage girl on a window sill – reportedly trying to jump – back inside to safety.

The incident occurred after the teenage girl, who has not been named in reports, was spotted apparently threatening to kill herself from a window in the city of Atyrau in Kazakhstan. The incident was recorded by an onlooker who shared it online.

Police officers were called and worked with volunteers in the rescue operation.

In the video, the teenager can be seen sitting on a window ledge when a man leaning out of the window below here is handed a wooden stick and he then begins pushing her legs back inside the window as another rescuer clambers out of another window.

Another man can then be seen clambering into the window where the girl is sitting and he takes her inside as another rescuer uses a shovel to help push them inside.

A police officer can then be seen grasping the girl as he walks with her inside.

One of the men who helped in the operation, Esenbai Kayirov, said: “I saw how the girl climbed onto the ledge and tried to jump down. I stopped and tried to help.”

Mikail Katarov, who works in a shop located on the 1st floor of the building and also participated in the rescue, said: “I heard people making noise and ran out. 

“I could not stand aside and climbed onto the balcony of the second floor to help. Both men were given letters of thanks from the local emergency services.”
