German cops have arrested a man after a woman jumped out of a parked car and ran over to them claiming the suspect had just raped her in the vehicle after offering her a lift home.
The 31-year-old woman noticed the police patrol car checking parked cars in Essen, a city within the Ruhr region of North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany and jumped out of a vehicle asking cops to help her.
The scared woman reportedly told police that she had just been raped by the man in the car.
Police immediately arrested the 35-year-old asylum seeker from Syria who was known to police.
After the incident, the arrested man’s brother told German newspaper Bild: “I just can’t imagine my brother doing that. He would not do that and I know him very well.”
The accused, who has not been named, is a married father-of-three and according to local media he had met the woman shortly before the alleged attack took place.
According to local media the woman was under the influence of alcohol and got into the man’s car when he stopped to ask her if she wanted a lift.
The prosecutor investigating the case in Essen said: “When the car stopped for the first time, there was allegedly consensual sex between the pair. On the second stop, the man is accused of forcing sex on the woman although she refused his advances.”
The woman fled the car after he allegedly failed to take no for an answer.
The investigations continue.
