The multi-millionairess wife of a Bolivian drug trafficker dubbed ‘The Queen of The North’ has handed herself in to authorities to prove she has done nothing illegal while amassing a 115-million-GBP fortune from no obvious income.

The 36-year-old woman, identified as Dora Vallejos, obtained her nicname from comparisons with the series which depicts the rise of Teresa Mendoza played by Kate del Castillo who becomes the most powerful drug trafficker in southern Spain.

Dora Vallejos handed herself in to prosecutors in Santa Cruz, a city in Bolivia, before being handed over the country’s anti-drug trafficking unit for investigation.

‘The Queen of The North’ Vallejos is the wife of Bismark Carlos Padilla, who was sentenced to ten years of prison for drug trafficking in 2005.

Police also believe she may be related to one of the pilots of a plane which was seized by cops while allegedly carrying one ton of cocaine in January.

According to local media, Vallejos obtained 57 properties and 19 vehicles between 2014 and 2019, without any evidence of economic activity to fund the lavish purchases.

She claimed that she is innocent of all charges in a statement given to media after her arrest.

The country’s Interior Minister, Arturo Murillo said that the woman went to the prosecution as she knew she was about to be cornered by cops and also feared for her own safety from rivals who feared she might reveal too much to police.

The Vallejos case has drawn the attention of the Bolivian media amid claims she was a member of Movimiento Al Socialismo (Socialism Movement), the political party of the former president Evo Morales.

The government of Bolivia claims to have started a fight against drug trafficking as they believe it was not tackled effectively by the Morales government.
