This young mother has died of kidney failure and blood sepsis after waiting over a year for an operation that never came after being involved in a car crash.

Olga Feschenko, 31, from the city of Tver in north-western Russia’s Tver Oblast region, suffered serious injuries in a car accident and qualified for disability.

Local media report that she developed a pressure sore which needed to be surgically removed.

Local media report the mother-of-one had been awaiting a free operation sponsored by the state in one of the hospitals in Russia’s second city of St Petersburg.

However, she did not have the chance to be operated on while waiting for more than a year for her surgery.

It is reported that Olga died of kidney failure and blood sepsis.

The woman has a young son whose age was not reported but does not look older than ten years old. It is unclear if the father is present in their lives.

Her family hasn’t given a public statement following Olga’s death.

Netizens were shocked by the news.

‘kaNas’ said: “It is so scary to live. If you don’t have the money, you can get into a coffin, as there is no way you can survive. Nobody wants to do anything without money.”

And ‘Mostovaya Olya’ said: “What about charity funds? They could have helped …”

While ‘Bugulov David’ commented: “Such a beautiful woman. I feel so sorry for her.”

According to Russian newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta (Independent Newspaper) the death rate has doubled in the past 30 years in the country, with the Russian health watchdog allegedly trying to hide the real statistics.

According to the World Health Organization, Russia is currently ranked 130th in the world for healthcare.
