An 18-year-old Indonesian man has been arrested for stabbing his mother’s alleged rapist to death after reportedly spying on the man for a month.
The alleged revenge attack took place in Gempol in the city of Pasuran in the southern Indonesian province of East Java where the teen suspect, identified as Maulud Riyanto, attended college.
The 18-year-old is accused of stabbing 49-year-old Yasin Fadilla to death for allegedly raping his mother six years ago.
The incident took place when Fadilla was leaving his home to visit a neighbour’s house and Riyanto was waiting for him with a knife, according to reports.
After being attacked in the street, Fadilla succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Initially, the killer’s identity was unknown, but the police later established that Riyanto had a motive for attacking the victim.
According to local media, Riyanto’s mother was raped by Fadilla six years ago and the teenager was unable to come to terms with the incident after hearing about it in class.
At the time, the community elders ‘resolved’ the issue between Fadilla and the unnamed mother, but her young son could not forgive the incident.
The teenager reportedly spied on the victim for a month, monitoring his movements and allegedly planning his revenge attack.
He was arrested while trying to flee to the city of Kendiri, according to local media.
The investigation is ongoing.
