Suspect Kelvin Alexander Dias, 23 – who identifies as non-binary and uses female pronouns – was seized after posting video of the abuse online.

Because her victim could not speak, Dias – who knew the victim’s family well – believed he would never be able to tell his parents of his horrific ordeal.

But Dias was caught when abuse experts found the photo and video footage on Twitter and tracked down the IP address to the boy’s family home in the city of Houston, Texas State, USA.

Dias – who reportedly admitted the abuse to police – is facing life behind bars.

Dias was arrested on Wednesday, 15th February, after the victim’s mother confirmed to police that the boy in the photo and video footage was her son and that Dias was the abuser.

Luke Baty from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office said: “Twitter became aware that there was sexually-explicit content, child pornography, flowing through an account that was later identified to be connected to the defendant, Dias.”

Following the arrest, Dias allegedly confessed to creating and uploading the footage, which she reportedly earned money from.

She later told officers she had the intention to leave the country and go back to her homeland in Honduras before she was arrested.

Dias was charged with super aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual performance of a child and possession of child pornography with intent to distribute on 20th February.

Her bail bond was set at USD 1.2 million(GBP 995,573).

She was also demanded to surrender her passport and visas, and was banned from having internet access or possessing any kind of pornographic material.

Defence attorney Mario Madrid said: “Yes, the allegations are extremely serious, in my opinion more serious than let’s say a murder case cause the possible punishment for this is a minimum of 25 years with no parole.

“They’re very difficult but it’s important to understand my client is presumed innocent.”

Prosecutors claimed there could be more victims.

The trial continues.
