This is the moment a bungling pensioner pushes a woman’s Mercedes-Benz through a busy junction after crashing and forgetting to take his foot off the accelerator pedal.

The traffic accident was captured by passers-by in Beijing’s Daxing District in the Chinese capital on 22nd October.

In the video, a white Suzuki SUV driven by pensioner Mr Huo, 71, is seen pinned against the front of the white Mercedes-Benz saloon at the junction of Xinghua Street and Huangcun West Street.

The confused septuagenarian, who police say accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal without letting go, pushes the woman’s car backwards as both vehicles are covered in a cloud of smoke generated by the spinning and screeching tyres.

Mr Huo’s Suzuku revs loudly as he forgets to take his foot off the accelerator pedal, while Mercedez-Benz owner Ms Wang, 35, is lifted out of her seat and carried to safety by a male rescuer.

It is unclear whether the man was a passenger or passer-by, but he can be seen taking Ms Wang away from the crashed cars as Mr Huo continues to push her Mercedes-Benz along the road.

Daxing traffic police said Mr Huo was in the car with his elderly wife at the time of the accident, which led to three cars being damaged.

He was cleared of drink- and drug-driving, and is being investigated by the relevant authorities, they said.

Ms Wang suffered a fractured hand but is not in any life-threatening condition.
