Neymar has reportedly filed a new lawsuit against Barcelona for nearly 3 million GBP claiming they failed to pay part of his salary and accusing them of acting in “bad faith” during his transfer to PSG.

Spanish newspaper ‘El Mundo’ report Neymar, 27, is suing his former club for 3.5 million EUR (2.96 million GBP) for an unpaid portion of his salary and bonuses.

The report states Neymar considers Barcelona acted in “bad faith” and in “retaliation” for his world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2017.

Despite the report, the superstar’s father Neymar Santos Sr. spoke with radio programme ‘El Larguero’ broadcast by Spanish radio network Cadena SER and said it “corresponds to an old lawsuit when Neymar left Barcelona.

“We felt we were negatively affected at that time.”

Neymar Sr. went on to talk about the relations between Neymar and the club saying: “We want to reach an agreement with Barca, it is what’s best for everyone.

“We have never had a bad relationship with Bartomeu. We do not know if we will return to Barcelona, he has a contract with PSG right now.”

Josep Bartomeu, 56, took over the presidency of Barcelona in 2014.

Neymar was involved in a legal case with Barcelona shortly after his record-transfer to PSG for 222 million EUR (187.72 million GBP) in 2017.

The forward claimed Barcelona still owed him part of a 64.4 million EUR (54.46 million GBP) renewal bonus. The case has not been settled.

According to ‘El Larguero’ Barcelona have reportedly confirmed the lawsuit concerning the footballer’s salary but have not paid it as they are waiting for the first one pertaining to his renewal bonus to be settled first.
