Volunteers have joined a desperate search for a mum and her 11-year-old son who disappeared after she apparently left to join a sect that claims to speak to aliens.
New images have emerged of Olga Lebedeva, 43, and her son Dmitry Lebedev, after they vanished in Novosibirsk, southern Russia, on 14th April.
Olga’s ex-husband and her mother, who have not been named, raised the alarm after losing contact with her.
Police discovered that Olga has a deep interest in extraterrestrials and had signed up to join the Cassiopeia Health Centre for Spiritual and Physical Development.
Leaders of the group claim that they can speak with alien civilisations.
Police say Olga had been planning a trip to the centre but leaders claim she never arrived.
They say Olga had probably rowed with her family about her beliefs and then disappeared to teach them a lesson.
Maxim Rusan, the head of Cassiopeia, reportedly told local media: “Olga and I have never met. However, we were contacted by law enforcement agencies.
“It turned out that they found many tabs with our project on Olga Lebedkina’s son’s tablet.
“I, as the leader, wrote a letter about the missing mother with the child for informational support to help the search, but she did not appear in our centre.”
Rusan added: “As I understand it, she quarrelled with her relatives. They, apparently, were categorically against her hobbies for spiritual knowledge.
“Accordingly, she could have told them to spite them that she was coming to us.”
Rusan said he was in Thailand at the time of Olga’s disappearance, adding: “I talked to the security officers from Novosibirsk by phone. As soon as I have some clues, I will immediately report this to the police.”
Now volunteers in Novosibirsk have joined the search for the missing mother and son, with the non-profit search and rescue organisation Liza Alert releasing photographs of them.
Newsflash had obtained a statement from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Novosibirsk Region, saying on Tuesday, 9th May, that they “are looking for the missing Lebedeva Olga Alekseevna, born 12/14/1979, and Lebedev Dmitry Alexandrovich, born on 18th April 2012, who on 14th April 2023 left a rented apartment at the address: Novosibirsk, st. V. Vysotsky 31 and until now their whereabouts are unknown.”
They added: “Olga looks to be 43 years old, height 175-180 centimetres, slim build, dark hair, brown eyes. Dmitry is 11 years old, height 140-145 centimetres, slim build, dark hair, blue eyes.”
The police also asked that anybody who has information about their whereabouts should contact them.
The investigation is ongoing.
