This beautiful Russian woman has mysteriously vanished in Germany amid her EUR-500,000 divorce proceedings against her husband, and her distraught mother is begging the authorities to find her.
The missing woman has been named as Russian-born Ekaterina Baumann, nee Bolgova, 32, who has lived in Germany for 12 years. She was last seen in the northern German city of Bermerhaven, located on the North Sea coast.
There has reportedly been no information regarding her whereabouts in two weeks, and her mother, named as Svetlana Bolgova in Russian media reports, said she had contacted the Russian Foreign Ministry before then contacting the German authorities to ask them to find her daughter.
Svetlana thinks her daughter could be in danger, and she reportedly told local media outlets that her daughter was in the process of divorcing her German husband.
Ekaterina and her husband are reportedly going through custody proceedings over their child, as well as over a property reportedly worth EUR 500,000 (GBP 419,000).
In her appeal to the authorities, the mother claims her daughter had repeatedly filed complaints against her husband with the German police because of domestic violence.
The mother also doubts that her daughter would have left home without telling anyone and disappeared for two weeks, leaving her five-year-old daughter.
After having contacted the Russian Foreign Ministry and received no reply, the mother contacted the German consulate in Russia’s cultural capital Saint Petersburg.
Svetlana said on Instagram: “We are constantly told how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cares about protecting citizens of the Russian Federation, but when you encounter a real problem, it turns out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ignores in every possible way a mother’s request for help in organising the search for her daughter, a citizen of the Russian Federation who is in danger. The German consulate even found an opportunity to call, but there was silence from the Russian side.”
The last known sighting of Ekaterina was on Friday, 4th February, and the German authorities are reportedly looking for her, with locals joining in the search.
The child has reportedly been taken into care by the local child protection services.
Investigators have reportedly searched the home and questioned the husband, who has not been named, and they have also reportedly checked numerous hospitals, hotels and other locations where she might be. They have so far come up empty-handed.
The Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda quoted an unnamed volunteer helping the family as saying in the ‘Nastoyaschaya Germaniya’ (‘Real Germany’) social media group, which is made up of Russians living in Germany: “We believe that Katya’s husband and mother-in-law may be involved in the disappearance…
“For example, Katya’s and her daughter’s documents were previously taken away (hidden by her mother-in-law, and only through a lawyer was Katya able to literally take them back).
“For the last year and a half, Katya has had difficulties in her marriage, and she has filed for divorce. In audio messages and conversations with loved ones, she shared that she was afraid of her husband, as he was showing aggression towards her and her daughter.”
The investigation is ongoing.
